Rocking Sarasota/Bradenton
Roadkill Blog . . .

Well, what can we say except "Thanks again!"

You g uys never let us down! It was another fantastic turnout by our regulars at the Flying Dog Cafe. Special thanks have to go out to our "groupies" from Tidewell Hospice who always come out in force and have a good time with us. Bruce was a trememdous host, as usual, and we love what he's done with the rennovations to the place. Great new "nook" area to the right of the stage with extra tables. We're also sending out healing vibes to Bruce's brother, George, who's had a recent …

Back on the stage and more . . .

Hey 41ers! Just a note to check back in. Only two days until we kick off the 2011 schedule at the Flying Dog Cafe! It feels like forever since we were back out playing live, and we can't wait to rock. Lots of great new stuff in the setlists and we're hoping you'll come out and support us. We have a few surprises in store and we need some serious audience participation! Not a lot of new news to report, although Danie and Mike will be in the studio on Thursday, and possibly early Friday, over in the Orlando area to work on some of Danie's solo recordings. If you haven't heard her newest song, "Chances," check it out here and click on the band profile link to find the download. Great modern pop vibe to it!

Here's the latest . . .

Word is Danielle and Mike did their usual awesome job last night as an acoustic pair at the Flying Dog Cafe's weekly open mic. Our dynamic duo did four songs and gave the folks there a taste of what's to come when the whole band returns for our third full show at the Dog on Feb. 11. Also, some great news to share on the schedule. Today, we were offered a return slot at the DeSoto Heritage Seafood Festival. We had a fantastic time playing this event in 2010 and we're thrilled to be invited back. Right now, we're slotted for Sunday, April 3, from 4-6 p.m. to close out the event. There is the possibility of us adding a second time slot on Friday, April 1, and we should know for sure by early next week. Check back in for more.

Good Changes for Mixon Gig!

We're thrilled to be back at Mixon Fruit Farms for their Orange Blossom Festival on March 12, and if you saw our early schedule posting about this event, please note a time change. HWY 41 will now play a full three-hour show, beginning at 3 p.m. This should be a lot of fun. It's a great family atmosphere with food and plenty of things to keep the kids busy. When we played the Harvest Fest in November, there were some very cool craft vendors and more. You should definitely make plans to be there. It's a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon and the weather should be fantastic that time of year. Special thanks go out to Mixon's Debby LaMontaine for bringing us back. She was a wonderful host last time and we're honored to return for a full show. Adrienne missed in November because of a bad cold, so we're hoping to be at full strength this time around!

Working hard on the 2011 show

Well, the fellas (and gal Adrienne) were back hard at work rehearsing on Tuesday night. The focus right now is on putting together a completely new show for 2011 - and things are going great! We have some really fun, interactive things in the works that are meant to involve the audience like never before. We also took a run at a couple new songs that will definitely be finding their way into the show - the old and the (sorta) new: Roxette's "The Look" and Kelly Clarkson's …

The Blog is Back!

It's a new year and it's time to revive the HWY 41 Roadkill blog. We removed the blog in 2010 as we worked to build our presence on Facebook, and now with that going strong, there's room for even more of the "inside scoop" on the band right here. It's going to be a HUGE 2011 for HWY 41. We're putting together a new show, booking LOTS of live concerts and working out the details for a major video shoot, so stay in touch with us here and add your two cents. We'd love to hear from you any time! Keep rocking!

Happy Holiday Wishes from HWY 41

Just wanted to drop in and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season. We'll be getting an early jump on the celebrations next Monday night (Dec. 14) by living it up with the good folks who work at Drummer Dave's two  Rotten Ralph's restaurants. They're having their annual holiday bash, and we'll be dropping in to share in the festivities and provide some entertainment. It should be a blast - and an opportunity to try out some of our newest material on a …

D. Coy's and Suds were rocking!

Haven't had a chance to check in for a few weeks, but wanted to let everyone know how fantastic our two latest gigs were! We played Suds Sports Grill in Ellenton (Nov. 7) and D. Coy Ducks on Holmes Beach (Nov. 13) for the first time and both lived up to expectations. Suds has a great outdoor deck just perfect for both the band and the patrons. It was a nice cool night for us - the first snap of fall weather - and we have to thank all the friends of the band who came out and partied with us. I see Suds …

Awesome Afternoon at Bayfest '09!

The band wants to send a special shout out to all the good folks who came out to Bayfest on Saturday (Oct. 17, 2009)! We had a great time in our debut at this event last year, but this time around was even better. The lineup of talent that Cindy Thompson and the crew put together was absolutely awesome and we were proud to be a part of it! The weather couldn't have been any better, and everyone was so supportive and enthusiastic. Special props to Adrienne. We threw her right in during the …

Remembering a Good Friend

Dean Tribble was my best friend. He was a roommate and at times a brother. He was also one of those rare, really special people you get to know and get the honor of jamming or playing in a band with. Mike and I still talk about him all the time and I think about him daily. Dean and I played together starting in the mid 80s. When you played with him, you learned things through some kind of osmosis or something. My guess is some kind of magic. He had a huge talent for writing and arranging music. He would …
